Students must be registered in CONNECT to tryout. Registrations must be complete by Feb. 28th. The earlier the better for the athlete and the coaches!!
In alignment with CDC guidelines, the Howard County Health Department (HCHD) recently updated their quarantine protocols, requiring anybody ages 12 or older who have completed the primary series of recommended vaccine, but have not received a recommended booster when eligible, to quarantine for five days.
We want to make you aware of this recent change because it impacts all age-eligible students who are not up to date with their booster and will require them to remain home from school and not participate in extra-curricular activities (including athletics) for 5 days if they are identified as a close contact.
The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) is not requiring eligible students to receive the booster as part of the athletics participation requirements at this time. However, the new protocol adopted by HCHD does apply to all eligible students and staff.
Those who are not yet eligible to receive the booster will not have to quarantine when identified as a close contact. Additionally, anybody who is up to date with the booster, or have tested positive for COVID in the past 90 days, will not have to quarantine when identified as a close contact. Please visit the HCPSS website for more information on isolating and quarantining.
HCPSS continues to follow HCHD guidance and encourages those eligible to receive the vaccine and booster to do so to remain healthy. Information on how to receive a COVID vaccine or booster may be found on the HCHD website.
