WELCOME BACK!!! We cannot wait for the students to return!! We are looking forward to a new school year and are dedicated to making the high school experience for students, parents, staff, and the community one you will never forget.   Please get involved, visit our links listed above, and let us know if you need anything.  Hebron continues to be an amazing place for students to be academically challenged, participate in extracurricular activities (we have over 91 clubs) and have a meaningful high school experience. The Hebron staff is dedicated to the success of all students. Our goal is to support and encourage each student in achieving his/her maximum potential by instilling an intrinsic sense of worth, academic curiosity and a life-long love of learning. Please, never hesitate to communicate any concerns you may have to your child's teacher, another staff member, or me—we are all here to support you and the students in the pursuit of excellence. Thank you for your commitment to Mount Hebron High School. Every two weeks we will celebrate our students in our newsletter. If you have news to share, please do not hesitate to email me or you can send information directly to our secretary, Ms. Bergreen at Kyunghye_Bergreen@hcpss.org.

Congratulations to alto saxophone superstar Zachary Costello! He is a 2017 NAfME All-National Honors Ensemble Band member and will be performing in Walt Disney World in November. He is one of the twenty students representing Maryland. This is an amazing accomplishment for Zack!  He was selected for this prestigious ensemble via video audition from among thousands of eligible high school student musicians.  In order to be eligible, a student must first have been selected to play in their All-State Band (or orchestra), so only the best of each state are allowed to audition.  Maryland levies an even more stringent requirement in that students must make a Maryland All-State ensemble two years in a row before being eligible for a NAfME All-National Honors Ensemble.

Congratulations to the following MTH Athletic Teams and Coaching Staff as they were in the TOP 50 HCPSS Athletic Teams of the 2016-17 School Year, as recognized by the Howard County Times:

#49 – MTH Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field

#46 – MTH Wrestling

#23 – MTH Volleyball

#6 –   MTH Boys Soccer

Congratulations to Mallaika Majid for applying and receiving approval for Mt. Hebron HS to host a TEDx talk on November 2.

Congratulations to our counselors, Irene Bademosi and Pat Miles, who were recognized by the University of Maryland College Park and MIT, as influential staff members to their students.

Congratulations to our 2017-2018 tenured teachers! We are so proud of you Matt Anderson, Takhia Gaither, Josh Rettenmayer, Zoya Riaz, Donna Smith, and Tracy Richter!

Congratulations to Wesley Notrton and Timothy Packard who were found worthy of the rank of Eagle Scout on July 6, 2017. Truly, what an incredible accomplishment!

Congratulations to the students and staff of MHHS!!!! Niche released their 2018 Best Schools in America rankings and Niche Grades and I'm happy to share that our school ranks as our #10 Best Public High School in Maryland for 2018. Our school also received an A+ Overall Niche Grade, which recognizes the overall quality of our school.

Congratulations to the Marching Band Unit and Mrs. Sobel for an outstanding show this past Friday at Pass in Review! In addition, students performed last Friday for over 700 HCPSS employees at our staff welcome back kickoff! Thank you to all of the parents that volunteered over the summer to help get the various tasks done to make this a successful band camp.

Thank you VERY much

Summer student volunteers such as John Ogungbemi and Lara Abedin for all the hours you gave the school during the summer. We were able to accomplish so much with all that you did for us!

Thank you to our incredible SGA and Ms. Sugg for the staff welcome back breakfast on Thursday, greeting the new staff members, helping with the new student orientation, helping with the HCPSS regional kickoff, and working so hard to create such a positive climate here at Hebron.  Thank you to our Viking Backers for helping us out with an amazing staff luncheon last Friday when we realized too late that our meeting(s) would last all day.  Thank you PTSA, Terri Gainey, Joanna and Georgia Fichter for a DELICIOUS staff luncheon. Thank you to our incredible staff for coming back to school energized, excited and ready to have an incredible year!

The event goal is to attract more than 200 runners and to raise enough money to host events including birthday parties, spa days and movie nights for children and families seeking care at Children’s National Medical Center and MedStar Georgetown Hospital’s Lombardi Cancer Center.
