When a student is absent, the parent/guardian must report the absence to the school by emailing MHHSabsence@hcpss.org. The e-mail should include the following:
Upon receipt of the note, the attendance record in Synergy will be updated to reflect the excused absence.
A student has five days from the date of the absence to send a note. If the note is received after the five-day grace period, the absence will remain unexcused. If a note is not received, the absence will be documented as Truant (unexcused). Please see the Secondary Student Handbook for more information.
What is considered an excused absence?
A lawful absence is an excused absence for any portion of the day under the following conditions:
Students who arrive late to school will enter through the main entrance.
Please use the camera in your smartphone to scan a QR code located in the front lobby and complete the MHHS Late Arrival form.
If a student does not have a smart phone the student will check in at the attendance window or main office.
Students will then proceed directly to class.
If it is an excused tardy parents should email a note to email@example.com. Please include:
NO PAPER NOTES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE ATTENDANCE WINDOW OR FRONT OFFICE.
In-Person: Early dismissals: Send an email to MHHSabsence@hcpss.org & include the following:
When parents arrive at the school please call the front office, indicate that you have sent an early dismissal note and the student will be called out of class.
Please try to schedule all appointments on days when students will not report to the building or consider having your child staying virtual that day.
If your student comes to the building on an incorrect day, the student will be sent home. Parents will need to provide transportation.
NO PAPER NOTES WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR EARLY DISMISSALS AND PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING FOR LATE ARRIVALS OR EARLY DISMISSALS.
