November 20, 2019

  • Come out the BSU Movie Night this Friday at 6 pm in the auditorium.  We will be watching Spike Lee's "See You Yesterday".  There will be free popcorn, candy and bags of brownies will be given to those who donate canned food items.
  • This is a reminder that this Friday, Nov. 22, is the last day to donate school supplies to the BSU drive.  Boxes are in the front hallway.

  • This is a reminder that the media center is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:40 - 4 pm.  Tutoring from National Honors Societies is available.  Tutors, please make sure to sign up using the sign-up genius provided by your sponsors.
  • Attn.:  Any student interested in participating in the German club!  We will have our 1st meeting of the year this Thursday, Nov. 21, in room 127, Frau Zik's room, right after school.  Please plan to attend!
  • The Red Cross Club meeting has been cancelled for this week.  There will NOT be a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20.  Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
  • The Mickey Mouse Club will be meeting this Friday, Nov. 22 at 2:15 in room 201.
  • Student attending the manufacturing field trip tomorrow are reminded to meet in the front lobby after 1st period ends.  Bookbags may be dropped off in room 003 beforehand where they will be locked up.
  • FBLA members testing for regionals are reminded to sign up for a test date this week!  The sign up list links were sent out last week, and can be found on the FBLA drive.  Spots are filling up, so please sign up ASAP.  Students testing as a team must all sign up and be present on the same testing date!

November 12, 2019

  • Make sure you don't miss the Model UN meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, after school in room 119!  We are going to go over the results of the Centennial conference as well as discuss upcoming conferences throughout the year.  The meeting will last about 30 minutes.  Make sure you don't miss it!
  • Tickets are on sale now through Friday, during all lunch shifts, for our fall musical, "Damn Yankee".  Shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at 7 pm.  Tickets are $12.00.
  • Students volumteers are needed for the 5th annual free community Thanksgiving day dinner.  All that is requred of volunteers is a donation of a food dish or dessert.  Service learning hours will be given.  Please see Ms. Flynn for more information.
  • Students who registered and paid for an AP exam should check with their teachers to confirm their registration.  There is also a list posted across from 109.
  • Our yearly Super Smash tournament will be after school this Friday from 2:30 - 6:00 in room 003.  Try to beat out the competition and go home with the Super Smash trophy!  Admission is $5.00, snack and drink part of the entry fee.  See you Friday.

  • Students interested in being a Peer Partner for the Allied Bowling team should contact Mrs. Ewart, room 140, this week.  The team bowls on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Dec. 3rd through Jan. 14th at the at the Normandy Bowling alley.
  • Are you a girl who codes, or wants to code?  If so, meet with Ms. Gaither this Wednesday, during Viking Time in room 146.
  • Come out to the African Affairs club meeting this Wednesday after school in Ms. Viglotti's room 126.  There will be food and music and we can't wit to see you there.
  • The Winter sports orientation starts at 6 pm tonight in the auditorium.  The team breakout sessions will follow immediately after.

  • The BSU is having a meeting this Thursday, November 7, after school in the cafeteria.  We will be making posters for our upcoming School supplies drive.  See you Thursday.
  • Calling all swimmers!  The Mt. Hebron Aquatics club will meet this Friday, November 8, after school in Portable 1.  If you are interested in representing your school next April at the high school swim meet join us on Friday.  If you can not make the meeting please stop by Portable 1 and see Ms. Schmidt.
  • IMPORTANT -  SENIORS!
    • Senior Portrait days will be Wednesday, Nov. 20, Thursday, Nov. 21, and Friday, Nov. 22.  If you haven't already had your senior portrait done,  you will need to contact Lifetouch at 410 644-7700 to schedule an appointment for here at Mt. Hebron on those dates.    You should have received an appointment card in the mail.
    • The final date here at Mt. Hebron will be Tuesday, January 7, here at Mt. Hebron. 
    • Portraits are due by Friday, January 31, 2020, if you want your portrait to be in the yearbook.  Email to yearbook.mounthebron@gmail.com

  • The new session of Greg's Driving School will begin today, at 2:45 in room 143.
  • Attn.  Math team members - Our next meeting will be this Wednesday, Nov. 6 in room 203, right after school.  We will be taking the qualifier for next week's meet at Atholton.  See you this Wednesday!
  • Red Cross Club is meeting this Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 2:15 in room 201.
  • Mickey Mouse Club is meeting this Friday, Nov. 8, at 2:15 in room 201.
  • Our Fall Musical, "Damn Yankees", opens this Friday night at 7 pm.  Tickets are on sale during all lunch shifts.  Cost is $12.00.  This show is this Friday, 11/8 and Saturday, 11/9, and next Thursday, 11/14, Friday, 11/15, and Saturday, 11/16.
  • Did you forget to register for AP exams?  The AP portal and Naviance are still open for students to register through November 8th.  There are not late fees during this period.  After Nov. 8th, the AP Portal will shut down and students will have to see Dr. Kiehl in room 109 to register, by hand, through November 15th.  Students who register after Nov. 15th will have to register, by hand, and incur a $40.00, per exam, late fee from College Board.  DON'T DELAY!

  • SHAKESPEARE TROUPE MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IS CANCELLED.
  • Our fall show, Damn Yankees, opens next Friday night, Nov. 8.  Tickets will be sold during lunches beginning next Monday, Nov. 4.  Shows are next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9 at 7 pm, and then Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14, 15 and 16 at 7 pm.  Tickets will be on sale beginning Monday for $12.00.

  • The Board Game club will meet Wed., Oct. 30 at 2:15 in room 201.
  • There will be a short interest meeting for the 2020 MESA Competition on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 2:20 in room 146.  If you are interested, but can not attend, please join the club on the Canvas page to receive additional information or see Mr. Gundlach in room 146.
  • The Shakespeare Troupe will be holding a meeting this Thursday, Oct. 31.  The Troupe will produce two (2) of Shakespeare's works.  Auditions are NOT required.  Prior experience with theatre is NOT necessary.  The group will focus on the production of Shakespeare and individual character analysis.  See Ms. Carlsen for more information.
  • The Table Soccer club is starting back up this year.  Join us Fridays immediately after school until 3:15 in room 228.  All are welcome.  No experience is necessary.  Hope to see you there.  The 1st meeting will be Friday, November 8.
  • Lancer Competition season tryouts are November 13 - 15 from 3:00 - 5:30 in the dance studio.  Follow @mthlancers on instagram for more details.

  • Please register for AP exam by this Friday, November 1.  Registration includes indicating that you want to take the exam in the AP Portal, completing the Naviance survey, and submitting a printed copy with payment to the drop box near Student Services.  Step by step directions are on the school's homepage.  See Dr. Kiehl in room 109 with questions.

  • There is a great opportunity for students in all four (4) grades that are interested in talking about the very important topic of mental health.  Next Wednesday, Oct. 30, during Viking Time, there will be a special speaker coming into Hebron to have a discussion with interested students.  It is a major step forward in bettering the mental health of all students at Hebron.  Check the Canvas student page for the link to sign up.  We hope to see you there!

  • Students looking for a fun service learning opportunity - Worthington Elementary's Secret Shoppe where students shop for holiday gifts for their family is looking for volunteers.  It will be Dec. 7 from 10 - pm, set up Friday, Dec 6, 630 - 8 pm.  A variety of jobs are available.  See Ms. Flynn in Student Services in you are interested.

  • Students - a reminder that the flu clinic is tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 25.  If your parent(s) signed a consent form, you should have received a pass today (Thursday).  Go to the auditorium at the time on the pass.  You will NOT be called down. 
  • AM ARL students with flu clinic passes should report to the auditorium upon arrival (9:15) tomorrow.
  • ALL students interested in trying out for the indoor track and field team, please stop by room 104 for the information sheet and sign the tryout roster by Tuesday, November 12.
  • AP students - if you have submitted your Naviance survey and payment for exam registration as of yesterday, Wednesday, October 23, please check with your AP teachers to see if you are registered.  Rosters of registered students were sent to teachers on Wednesday.  If you have not submitted your paperwork and payments, please do so by November 1st.

  • Attn.:  Students registered for the University of Maryland Mathematics competitition,   the competition is tomorrow, October 23, in room 202.  Please head to room 202 immediately after 4th period. 
  • Attn.:  Math team members, there will be a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23, after school in room 203.  This will be a practice, not a qualifier.
  • Make sure you don't miss the Model UN meeting Wednesday, Oct. 23 after school in room 119!  There will be a simulation of a real committee that will last about an hour, but feel free to leave earlier if you need to.  This is a great chance to practice your public speaking skills and get a feel for what a conference is like, so make sure you don't miss it!
  • There is a mandatory wrestling meeting next Tuesday, Oct. 29 after school in Coach Harman's room 156.  All interested wrestlers should attend to get information for the upcoming season.

  • Greg's Driving School will be meeting beginning today in room 156 at 245.
  • Chess Club and Video Game Club, which were to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, are postponed until next Tuesday, Oct. 22.
  • Attn.:  Math lovers - The University of Maryland Mathematics Competition is fast approaching, and there are huge rewards available.  On next Wednesday, October 23, Mt. Hebron  will be offering the competition to interested students.  Round 1 of the competition will run from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Mt. Hebron.  State-wide winners of the entire competition will receive rewards ranging from cash prizes to full, 4-year tuition to University of Maryland, College Park.  Again, the competition is October 23.  See Mr. Ernst in room 203 for details and to sign up.

  • Attention:  Math Team members - This is a reminder that our next meeting will be this Thursday, October 10, in room 203.  This is a qualifier.
  • October 16 is PSAT day.  ALL 9TH, 10TH, AND 11TH grade students will take the PSAT.  Practice tests have been given out in English classes.  Students, be sure to get good rest the night before, eat a good breakfast the day of the test, bring a number 2 pencil and a calculator.  Remember cell phones must stay off and inyour backpack during the entire test.  Students should fine their room assignments posted near the front office.

  • The media center is now open every Tuesday and Thursday, until 4 pm.  The bus is also available every day that the media center is open.  If you have any questions, please ask your teachers.
  • There is a Millionaires Club interest meeting after school today in room 145, Ms. Brookhart's room.  Everyone is invited that wants to learn about money management, play the stock market game, and participate in the Personal Finance Challenge.  See you after school!
  • AP exam registration is open.  It closed November 1.  Step by step instructions for how to register can be found on the school's homepage.  Students must select their exams in the AP Portal and complete the Naviance survey.  Registration is NOT complete unless both steps are complete.  See Dr. Kiehl in room 109 for questions.
  • The Future Medical Professionals will be hosting their 1st meeting today, 10/1, in room 109.  Our 1st meeting is "the Path to Being a Medical Professional".  Please join us today after school in room 109, there will be snacks.
  • The board game club will meet this Wednesday, Oct. 2, in room 201 from 2:15 - 3 pm.  Bring your favorite board game or play on of ours.

  • This is a reminder that Mt. Hebron's Senior College Night is this Thursday, September 26 at 6:30 pm in the auditorium.  Learn about the college process and Naviance help.
  • Art Club will be having an open interest and information meeting Thursday, September 26 after school.  All who are interested are welcome.  Refreshments will be served and the activity bus is available after the meeting.  You do not have to be enrolled in an art class to participate.
  • New or existing FBLA members are reminded that the elections will be held tomorrow, Thursday, after school in room 003.  In order to run for office, or vote, you must have paid udes by Thursday.  If you are running for office, please fill out the interest document that was posted in the FBLA school group. with your name and office.  See you Thursday.

  • Card Magic Club - Are you interested in watching, learning, or performing magic?  Come to the Card Magic Club!  There is an interest meeting during Viking Time next Wednesday, Oct 2 in room 110.  You will learn tricks and sleight of hand that will impress your family and friends.  We hope you will be there.

  • The after school activities bus will begin tomorrow, September 24 and run every Tuesday and Thursday until mid-May.  If you wish to take the bus home, you must obtain a ticket from the teacher you are staying with.  You will not be allowed on the bus without a ticket.  Please make sure your parent or guardian has filled out the online permission form.
  • Come join the BSU this Thursday for their first general meeting.  There will be games, donuts, and the after school bus will be provided.  See you Thursday!
  • Do you play guitar, piano, or electric/acoustic bass?  Are you interested in being in an ensemble?  The Mt.   • Hey Seniors!  Working on your college application?  Struggling to write the perfect college essay?  The Beyond School Hours Program will be offering a free 6 week College Essay Support course on Tuesdays, from 2:40 - 3:40 pm, beginning September 24.  Admittance into the course will be on a first come first served basis, and is not guaranteed.  Please complete the Google Form on the Student Canvas Page if you are interested.
  • Student Helping Honduras is having an interest meeting tomorrow, Friday, in room 154.  All are welcome, there will be food and drinks.
  • How many teenagers can say they went to court for school?  Mt. Hebron's Mock Trial team will be auditioning lawyers and witnesses to become those teenagers!  If you are interested in law, acting, or public speaking, please attend the Mock Trial interest meeting immediately after school in room 119 next Tuesday, September 24.  Rookies and veterans are invited.
  • Have you ever dreamed of leading a country?  Traveling with your friends and making new ones from around the world?  Or even just practicing your public speaking skills doing something fun?  You can do all of this and more at Model United Nations - come to the interest meeting in room 119 right after school on Wednesday, Sept. 25.  Everyone is welcome!
  • Students in need of Service Learning Hours - volunteers are needed for Worthington Elementary School's family fitness and wellness night on Thursday, October 10.  If you are interested, please see Ms. Flynn in Student Services for more information.

September 17, 2019

  • Math team members, and everyone interested, come to room 203 after school on 9/18 for our second meeting of the year.  The meeting will be the 1st qualifier for our county-wide meet next week.  The top 20 qualifying individuals will be invited to the meet at River Hill.  We'll see you at 2:15.
  • There will be a class of 2023 board meeting in room 145, Ms. Brookhart's room, right after school for anyone interested in being a leader and creating a great environment for your fellow classmates.  Anyone in the freshman class is welcome.
  • This Friday, before school at 7:05 am there will be a brief interest meeting for anyone wanting to tryout for girls lacrosse in Ms. Brookhart's room 145.

September 16, 2019

  • Registration for the Senior Crab Feast has been EXTENDED through Tuesday night, Sept. 17 at 11:59 pm.  Tickets may still be purchased online until tomorrow night.
  • This week, all students enrolled in an AP class will receive information from one of their teachers about registering for AP exams.  AP registration opens October 1st and closes November 1st.  Students must register through both the new AP portal and in Naviance.  Read the handout carefully so you are ready to register in October.  See your teachers or Dr. Kiehl in room 1098 with questions.
  • There will be a Delta Scholars meeting for all CURRENT Delta Scholars tomorrow, Tuesday, September 17 at 2:15 in room 106.  Please wear your Delta Scholars t-shirt and arrive on time.
  • 2018-2019 yearbooks are now for sale for $85.00.  If you are interested in purchasing a yearbook, come to room 232 after school beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, September 17 with either cash or a check made payable to Mt. Hebron High School.  Books are first come, first served and only 30 remain!  See Ms. Fischetti with any questions.  Books are only for sale AFTER school, not BEFORE school.
  • There is a wrestling meeting for interested and current wrestlers this Thursday, September 19, right after school in Coach Harman's room 156.  All planning on wrestling this year should attend.
  • Students Helping Honduras is having an interest meeting this Friday, September 20 in room 154.  All are welcome, there will be food and drinks.
  • Seniors interested in joining the Homecoming Wall or Float team will have a starter meeting this Friday, September 20, after school, 2:15 - 3:15 in room 229, Ms. Kang's room.

  • The Muslin Students Association is having a Meet and Greet for the start of the 2019 school year, today after school in room 149.  Come meet your club sponsor and maybe some new people.  Snacks provided!
  • Have you memorized an impressive number of digits of pi?  Do you enjoy solving challenging math questions?  Are you interested in competing against Mt. Hebron and Howard County students in a relaxed and fun environment?  If so, come out for the 1st Math Team meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, September 11 in room 203 right after school. Everyone is welcome - see you there!
  • Do you like to compete and show off what you know?  Do you like trivia and Jeopardy?  Come find out about the It's Academic club.  Our 1st meeting is this Thursday, September 12 after school in room 101.  All are welcome.
  • The 1st meeting of Future Business Leaders of America is this Thursday, September 12, in room 003.  Come out and help our chapter hold onto its 1st place in the state this coming year!  There are over 70 event that you can compete and distinguish yourself in.  They span all categories from computer programming, to public speaking, to graphic design and everyting in between!  We hope to see you Thursday.

  • The Class Board of 2020 invites all seniors to the  Senior Crab Feast on Wednesday, September 18 from 530 - 9 pm.  Tickets are now $25.00 and can be purchased online.  The last day to purchase tickets is Friday, September 13.
  • Individuals interested in the Health and Wellness Fitness Club, see Coach Carter in room 104 for more details.
  • All girls interested in playing basketball this winter, there is a brief interest meeting tomorrow, Friday, September 6 right after school in the main gym.  If you are unable to make it, please talk to Coach Ahearn to receive the needed information!  We hope to see you there!
  • There will be Badminton interest club meeting, after school in room 156, this Monday, September 9 from 215 - 230 pm.
  • The Allied Soccer team begins practicing this Monday, Sept. 9  There will be a brief meeting for players and peer partners today, Thursday, in room 140 immediately after school.  Students interested in playing or assisting as a peer are welcome to stop by.  Those who can't make it or have problems can see Ms. Cassetta in room 212.

  • Yearbooks - 
    • 2019 yearbooks will be available for pick up in room 232 Wednesday, Sept. 4 and Thursday, Sept. 5 until 3:30 pm, and on Friday, Sept. 6 until 3:00 pm.  Any books not picked up will be distributed as soon as possible during 4-A and 6th periods.  Please email Lauren Fischetti with any questions at lauren_fischetti@hcpss.org.
