September 21, 2018

  • Students are reminded that only students with VALID student parking permits are allowed to park on the students lot.  Students will be fined $50.00 if your car is on the lot without a permit.
  • Art club is meeting after school today, Friday, in room 121.
  • Are you a photographer, creative person or someone who is interested in photography?  Then come to Photo Club's interest meeting today, Friday, right after school in room
  • Break dance is meeting today right after school in room 222.

September 20, 2018

  • Are you interested in joining one of the largest clubs in the school and competing against other high schools students in Howard County, Maryland and Country?  Mt. Hebron's chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) has its first meeting today, after school, in room 003.  We hope to see you there.
  • The Break Dance club is having a meeting tomorrow, Friday, after school in room 222.  All are welcome!
  • The South Asian club is having a Henna fundraiser during tomorrow evening's football game.
  • Try to remember that this September is Mt. Hebron's 1st studio production of -
    • The Fantasticks, the longest running musical in history.  Join the Hebron Thespians as they present this classic musical about when a boy meets a girl and the day after they fall in love.  Featuring Joe Nolan, Leah Reineck, Jake Scarbath, Ian Luk, Max Nzone, Ryan McClure, Kevin Aguilera, and Kaegan Stottlemeyer and directed by Jennie Hardman and choreographed by San Yakaitis.
    • The Fantasticks has a limited run with only 2 showings on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 pm and Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 pm  Seating is also limited.  Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchases online, at the door, or at all lunches starting today.  Come on out and support the tradition of the Hebron stage.  See the Fantasticks before it's gone.

  • There is a sophomore class board meeting today right after school in room 114.
  • Have a flair for the Bard?  Ready to shake the quill with Will?  Is all the world your stage?
    • Hebron's Shakespeare Troupe, the Scoundrels, will have its 1st meeting Tuesday, Sept. 25, immediately after school in room 136.  Join Troupe Leaders Alex Clay and Dom Martin, as they put together a rag-tag company of players to explore the texts of Love Labours Lost and the Scottish Play!  This is no fear Shakespeare at its finest.  No experience necessary.  Bring your wits and be ready for fun.
  • Whose Line is It Anyway?
    • Are you quick on your feet and funny at a moment's notice?  Come out next Monday, Sept. 24 for the HIT (Hebron Improv Team).  Join Hebron's own ACI team members, Bonnie Vess and Julia Medina as they field the future funny people of the Viking Team.  No experience necessary, come out for fun and laughs.
  • The National English Honor Society is having its 1st meeting next Thursday, Sept. 27 after school in room 234.  
  • Do you like to compete and show off what you know?  Do you like trivia and jeopardy?  Come find out about It's Academic cub.  Our first meeting is this Thursday after school in room 101.  All are welcome.

  • Model UN is meeting today after school in room 119.  All those who wish to attend the HEBMUNC fall conference and potentially qualify to compete against top scholars internationally at WAMUNC should attend this meeting today after school in room 119.
  • Students interested in joining the Health and Wellness club, stop by room 104 for more information or see Coach Carter as soon as possible.
  • Students, if you need service learning hours, there is a volunteer opportunity on Sunday, Sept. 30  at Lake Elkhorn.  Volunteers are needed for the annual Howard County AFSP Walk.  Volunteers are needed from either 9:30 - 11 or 1:30 - 3.  Please see Ms. Flynn in Student Services if you want more information.
  • Attn:  All Artists -
    • Are you a poet, painter or photographer?  Are you a choreographer, composer or cinematographer?  The PTSA Reflections program is, a local, regional and national competition that for 50 years has been celebrating the best artists in each school providing recognition and scholarships for excellent work.  The theme of this year's competition is "Heroes Around Me".  This call for Art started Sept. 17 and submissions will be due Nov. 1.  Submissions will be evaluated the 1st week of November and best of show will be celebrated and recognized at the Prism concert on Nov. 14.
    • If you are a viking artist, dancer, music maker, filmmaker or writer, see your art of English teacher for an application.  You can also see the bulletin board in the Music/Theatre hallways for an application and informaiton.
    • See Mr. Barker in room 136.  Show up and show off Vikings!  Enter your reflections today.
  • Science NHS is meeting today right after school in Ms. Mongano's room 225.  We will be discussing plans and logistics for the year.

  • Interested in Math, Engineering or Science?  Want to learn how to make a hoverboard or battlebot?  Compete with other Howard County high schools?  Come to room 146 on Friday, September 21 for MESA's 1st interest meeting!  Snacks will be provided!

  • The theme for Homecoming, 2018 has been decided and is posted on the Canvas page.  Check it out!
  • There will be an interest meeting for Ultimate Frisbee Friday after school in room 146.  All interested and current members should attend.  No experience is necessary.
  • There is a South Asian club meeting Friday after school in room 222.  All are welcome.
  • There is a wrestling team interest meeting next Tuesday, Sept. 18 after school in Coach Harman's room 156.  All current and interested wrestlers should plan to attend.
  • The first meeting for French club is next Tuesday, Septm. 18 after school in room 128.  Come for food and fun.  We will also plan our activities for the year.  If you miss the 1st meeting, you are more than welcome to come to later meetings.  Hope to see you there!
  • Are you fluent in another language besides English?  Are you currently enrolled in an advanced placement language course?  You could possibly earn the Seal of Biliteracy on your final high school transcripts.  Please see Mrs. Crise in room 128 or Ms. Tonguino in room 127 for more details.
  • The 1st meeting of the French Honors Society will be Thursday, September 20 after school in room 128.  We will discuss our plans for the year and the tutoring schedule.  If you can not make this 1st meeting, please speak with Mrs. Crise as soon as possible.

  • There will be a sophomore board meeting Wednesday, Sept. 12, after school in room 114.
  • The Delta Scholars meeting has been changed from today to tomorrow, Wednesday, September 12, at 2:15 in the media center.
  • The Muslim student association invites you to room 149 on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 2:15 for a Meet and Greet.  Come meet your MSA sponsor and enjoy some snacks.

  • Delta Scholars - To start off the year we will be having our first general meeting on Tuesday, September 11, after school.  The meeting will be held in the media center and will start at 2:15.  This is a mandatory meeting for all returning members - see you there!
  • Hey Hebron!  Do you like milk and cookies?  Do you know what soh-cah-toa means?  Do you like solving math problems?  Well, Math team is the group for you.  The first Math team meeting will be next Wednesday, September 12 from 2:15 - 3:00 in Mrs. Kingsley's room, 220.  This will be an informational meeting as well as the qualifier for our first Math team meet.  Hope to see you Wednesday, in room 220.  Remember, you can't spell Math with MTH!

  • The Sophomore class board will be meeting tomorrow, Thursday, after school in room 114.
  • Hebron Theatre!
    • Be sure to join us this Friday, immediately after school until 4 pm for the first theater guild meeting of the year.  Learn about all the opportunities on the Viking stage - tech crew, improv troupe, Shakespeare troupe, New York trips and more.  Meet the officers, eat some snacks, play some games.
    • The fantastic world of Narnia awaits you.  Auditions for the fall production of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe start this Saturday, September 8, with the fight workshop from 9-3.  Students only need to attend 2 hours of the workshop and can sign up online.
    • Auditions are September 12, 13 and 14 from 3 - 6 pm.  No experience is necessary.  Roles of all sizes, from dwarf to giant, available.  For more information, please see Mr. Barker in room 136. 
    • We look forward to seeing everyone at the shows this year.  Whether you're on stage, backstage, or sitting in the house, everyone plays on the Viking stage!
