Student Services Summer Hours

Student Services will be open Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm starting June 20, 2016.  The office will be closed every Friday from July 1st through July 29th.  Appointments (for new student registrations) will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Please call our registrar at 410.313.2883 to schedule an appointment.

Parents ~ all students in grades 9 through 11 received their schedule requests for the next school year during 6th period today.  Please communicate directly with their counselor if you need to make any adjustments before the end of August 2016.

Schedule Change Process

If you are requesting a change to your schedule, please see your counselor before the end of the school year or come in during our summer office hours.

Schedule Changes will only consist of:

Level changes – waiver required (with parent signature) for each change
Missing courses (less than 7)
Missing graduation requirement

Elective Changes will not be made after August 26, 2016

Enjoy your summer ~ Read a book!

Rising senior summer checklist:

  • Check out college web sites –admission applications should be online
  • Visit college campuses, sign up for college visits on Naviance
  • Check out essay questions at interested colleges
  • Make sure your senior schedule is rigorous (Honors, GT, AP)
  • Ask your academic core teachers for college recommendations–(only ask for the amount needed, usually 2)
  • Complete the teacher information form (2) and the counselor information form  on Naviance (needed for recommendations)
  • If planning to play a college sport, complete NCAA registration online after the end of junior year
  • Sign up for the SAT exam/Subject Tests – October/November 2016
  • Sign up for the ACT exam – September 2016
  • Complete Service Learning Hours, if needed
  • Check out Leadership/Enrichment/Internship opportunities

Seniors ~ Final Transcripts:

Students must have completed the Senior Survey on Naviance (under the “About Me” tab, on the left-hand side under Surveys), AND marked the college they are attending. If you have not completed the survey please do so. Final transcripts will be sent out the week of June 20th.

NCAA Students:

Students who NEED their FINAL Transcripts sent to the NCAA Eligibility Center must follow these instructions. If you already have an account, make sure it is set up so that your transcripts can be requested and sent.

Go to www.eligibilitycenter.org and click on “New Account” in the upper right hand corner. Once you create an account, click on the picture of the cell phone on the left.
In the My Task window, click on “Official Transcript Needed.”
Under “Task Detail,” follow the instructions.
When you “click here,” you will be taken to the Parchment Exchange website.
Create an account and request a transcript to be sent from your school to the NCAA Eligibility Center.

NOTE: You must send 2 requests – one for the initial and one for the final transcript.

The Summer School information and catalog can now be accessed online at:

Here you will find the catalog (available in 4 languages), online registration, as well as emergency/health forms and financial assistance forms.

The in-person registration dates for High School Courses are:

There are many exciting new programs including several Hybrid courses which are taught both online and in person. We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible as some classes are on a first come basis.

The Original and Review credit course dates and locations vary so please check the catalog.  Courses will be held at Howard High School and Oakland Mills High School. If you have any questions, please consult your student’s counselor.

Summer Office Help

Do you NEED Service Learning Hours?  The Student Services Department needs summer volunteers to answer the phones and do a variety of office duties. 

Starting Monday June 20th, the hours will be 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.   It’s a great way to stay “cool” and get your service learning hours done!

Please contact your Counselor in The Student Services Department to get those hours started or finished!
