HEBRON HAPPENINGS:

  • Mt. Hebron Celebrates Black History Month!
    • Read By: Taylor Sigur
    • Katherine Johnson, whose life story has inspired the movie, Hidden Figures, is an African American physicist and mathematician who made contributions to the United States’ Aeronautics and Space Programs.  During this time, she calculated the trajectories and launch windows for many flights from Project Mercury, including the early NASA missions of John Glenn and Alan Shepard, and the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the Moon, through the Space Shuttle Program.  On November 24, 2015, Johnson received the nation’s highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, from President Barack Obama.

  • ALL INDOOR TRACK ATHLETES TURN IN YOUR UNIFORM TO COACH CARTER BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH!
  • AP registration bulletins were distributed to students last week.  If you did not receive a bulletin, please see Dr. Kiehl in room 109.  Registration opens on March 1st and the most up-to-date information regarding registration can be found on Naviance and the school’s website.
  • Free SAT Prep Class Review beginning Tuesday, February 14th.  Eight session review will be held after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays with four sessions focusing on English and four sessions focusing on Math.  Student participants are required to attend all four sessions and abide by classroom norms and regulations set by the teacher.  Each one hour class will begin at 2:40pm and end at 3:40pm.
    • Tuesday Classes:          2/14, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14 – will meet in room 231
    • Thursday Classes:        2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9 – will meet in room 204

  • SAT Test March 11th - Don’t forget to register.  ALL juniors are recommended to take the SAT in the Spring of their junior year.  See your counselor for more information
  • Attention current 11th & 12th graders who have a passion for English – the National English Honor Society is now accepting applications.  Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA with no D’s or E’s and must be able to demonstrate a dedication to the English Language Arts.  Please see Mrs. Shannon Davis in room 234 for an application packet.
  • Students who use the Media Center After-School will be asked to sign in on the computers at the Media Center Front Desk.  See Dr. Neugebauer with any questions
  • Rotary Club Book Drive – for the month of February gently used books can be donated and dropped off in one of the boxes in the front hallway or the Media Center
  • College Visit Dates – Juniors & Seniors Sign up for visits in Naviance – See your counselor if you have any questions.
  • Attention Seniors:  turn in your Diploma Signature Forms to Mrs. Mathias in Student Services ASAP

    • SGA’s 7th Annual Hebron for Hope - Shirts and Pep Rally tickets are on sale during ALL lunch shifts.  Shirts are $10 – Pep Rally tickets are $5 (Pep Rally is on Thursday, 2/23)  ALL proceeds benefit Children’s Cancer Research @ Johns Hopkins
    • Future Business Leaders Club hosting a smash video game tournament after school in room 3.  Tickets are $5 – refreshments will be sold.  You do not need to be an FBLA member to attend
    • It’s Academic Club meeting after school in room 101 – taking our team picture
    • Girls Basketball Hosts Reservoir – JV 5:15, Varsity 7:00pm
    • Boys Basketball @ Reservoir – JV 5:15, Varsity 7:00pm
    • Come out to one of the games and also support our Senior Cheerleaders, Cavaliers and Drum Line in their last regular season performance
